It still blows my mind that you are always one decision away from an entirely different course of life. We have so many choices to make daily, like literally hundreds to thousands. Everything is a choice, and God gave us the freedom and free will to live our lives according to our own decisions. But I have found that if I align my will with His, it’s not only easier to make these decisions, but things always work out for the best (Romans 8:28).

In this post I would like to share the exact dates on which our journey has begun. I have been asked numerous times by various people what this time frame looks like more or less. It is important to remember that this is our unique timeline and things will look different for every person aspiring or intending to relocate. Our story is definitely a story of hope, through many ups and downs, struggles and doubts, and an enormous lesson in faith, we can say with surety that we are right where we need to be at this exact moment.

If you have some big choices to make, if you are unsure about certain areas of your life, if you feel that you need some inspiration or encouragement in the one or the other aspect or if you just maybe feel overwhelmed, scared, worried. Then I encourage you to go sit at the feet of Jesus. Tell Him about it. Ask Him for His guidance, and wait for Him to get back to you.

So here we go:

June: My hubby expressed his interest to move to another country. We discussed it but left it there.

Start of July: He proposed again that we consider moving abroad and we started praying eagerly over the matter.

25 July: Evert was contacted by a recruiter from New Zealand.

13 August: The recruiter set up an interview at an interested company for the following week.

18 August: The Sunday divine service that changed our lives forever (read all about it in part one)

20 August: His first successful interview with the company director.

22 August: His second interview with one of their senior engineers.

9 September: Personally handed in application for Police Clearance Certificates.

8 October: Underwent medical examinations for Visas.

10 October: Received our Police clearance certificates.

24 October: By this time we had gathered all the relevant documents and information and on this day we finally completed our group VISA applications.

It was also around this time that Evert gave his notice of resignation at Century where he worked at the time.

28 October: Gave our 1 month notice that we would not be renewing our lease, and would therefore move out of our lovely little apartment by the end of November.

November: We started to sort through all our belongings, decided what we wanted to sell, donate and keep, and begun to advertise our things on social media.

4 November: Personally went into the NZ agency for passport verification.

29 November: Moved out of our apartment to my in laws for almost 3 weeks.

9 December: Received our Visa's electronically and booked our flights immediately.

10 December: Advertised my car on Gumtree and sold it 2 hours later.

16 December: Departed on a long proudly South African holiday with our family.

7 January: In this last week before we left we managed to complete a lot of admin, for example closed accounts, exchanged currency, acquired international drivers’ licenses etc. We also sold Evert's’ car in this week.

14 January: Boarded our plane to New Zealand.

16 January: Arrive at Auckland International Airport.
